Pilot project to attract foreign skilled workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the German craft sector

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is funding the "Pilot project for the recruitment of foreign skilled workers for the German craft trades" as a supporting measure to accompany the new Skilled Immigration Act, which comes into force on 1 March 2020.

This cooperation project between the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts and the Federal Employment Agency aims to test the active recruitment of skilled workers from abroad for German craft enterprises. It tends to develop a functioning recruitment and immigration process in cooperation with the actors involved in Germany and abroad. For this purpose, the exemplary placement of about 120 skilled workers is planned. The project concentrates on those occupations in which there is a proven shortage of skilled workers in the craft trades: electronic technician, metal constructor and plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology. The partner country is to be Bosnia and Herzegovina. Intensive talks are already taking place with the local labour administration about a cooperation.
