The study conducted by the German Economic Institute on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action on the recognition of foreign professional qualifications from a company perspective shows that companies see potential in the recognition of foreign qualifications, but demand simpler, faster and digitally supported procedures.
The report sheds light on the experiences and needs of companies in Germany with regard to the recognition of foreign professional qualifications for securing skilled labour.
Based on the results, it presents recommendations for action for companies and policymakers to incentivise the recognition of foreign professional qualifications and to simplify and accelerate the recognition process. The study has EU-wide relevance and shows the benefits of the recognition of foreign professional qualifications for securing skilled labour in Europe, using Germany as an example: The harmonisation of recognition procedures makes it easier to integrate qualified specialists into the German labour market, which benefits both companies and employees. This study helps to advance the issue of recognition of professional qualifications and to support measures that promote the mobility and integration of skilled labour within the EU.
